Why Drake Is The Artist Of The Decade

Everybody knows Drake. I honestly can't think of not one person who doesn't. Since his arrival into the music industry, he's learned to evolve and adapt to a constantly changing industry. That's why I feel like he should have won Artist Of The Decade at this year's AMAs (American Music Awards). I'm not saying that Taylor didn't deserve it. I just feel as though Drake has had the better career when it comes to music.

Drake came into the industry in 2009, under Lil Wayne's wing. He was signed to Young Money and released his first single, "Best I Ever Had". "Best I Ever Had" went on to go 4x platinum and that was only the beginning for Drake. Since his arrival, it's been nothing but platinum and gold hits. Last year, he broke the record for the most top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, a record previously held by The Beatles. He is the highest-certified digital singles artist ever in the United States. He has had 7 songs go triple platinum, 3 songs go 4x platinum, 3 go quintuple platinum and multiple other songs going all the way to 8x platinum.

Drake isn't afraid to reach out to younger artists as well. Nearly every new artist has gotten the chance to work with Drake and I feel like that what keeps him so fresh in the game. All his albums have gone platinum and he has his own label, OVO Records, housing 8 artists. He is the most streamed artist this year on Spotify and all the newer generation artists look up to him. I'm not taking anything away from Taylor but I think Drake has had a bigger impact on the industry.
